EUROPE DAY and ERASMUS + PROJECT “Our small grain of sand”

Europe Day: May 9th

Europe Day commemorates the signing of the 'Schuman Declaration' on 9 May 1950. This was an ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe that is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union.

As it was published on our website, our high school is participating  in an Erasmus+ project, called “Our small grain of sand”, during this course and the following one. It is co-founded by the European community and its aim is to raise awareness of energy consumption and water consumption.

Needless to say, after the severe drought which is affecting Catalonia, water consumption is a concerning issue for all of us. In our school, we are collaborating with Europe Day in different ways:

  1. All students have been informed by Erasmus+ students about our project and have hung an informative sign in all the building rooms to raise awareness of energy consumption and reduce it.

  1. The second action taken along the day has been to hang a sign on all the fountains and faucets of the building to raise awareness of water consumption and reduce it.

  1. Finally, Pius students have been informed of a TIK TOK contest, where they are asked to record a video related to the topic of EUROPE or ERASMUS+. The winners will be announced on this same website at the end of May approximately.

Finally, Erasmus+ team would like to thank these students for their participation and help during the Europe day as well as during the project.

“Every little step counts, because the little steps are usually the ones that actually get taken. There’s virtually no risk, and yet the rewards, over time, can be enormous.”
